After the University degree in Electronic Engineering at Rome University “La Sapienza” and two years with the Italian Navy as Officer and Researcher in the Navy Research Institute “Mariteleradar” for Radar and Telecommunication in Leghorn (Livorno), Luigi Alberto CIAVOLI CORTELLI joined the Company TELESPAZIO carrying out, during nearly thirty years, several activities in different positions, among which:

• Deputy Director of Special Studies and Projects Department.
• Part time at the Ministry of Science and Technology, as member of the Italian Delegation at the European Space Agency (ESA).
• Director of Fucino Space Centre
• Director of Earth Observation and Environmental Systems Division.
• Management of Defense programs
• CEO of Italian- Russian Company “ASTELIT” (in Moscow) established by Telespazio and the Russian company “ASTRA”, for Satellite Communications.

During the same period he was Member of the Board of Directors of Companies participated by Telespazio: SPOT Image (France); Marems (Russia)

After the period in Telespazio, he has been Vicepresident of Galileian Plus Ltd, CEO of Spacematix Europa, cofounder and first President of ASAS, Association of Companies for Space based Applications and Services, member of Confindustria, Innovative and Technological Services.

At present he is Past President of ASAS and Lecturer at Capri Campus.
