Dr Nikolaos Mavridis, PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is an academic and consultant specializing in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, currently serving as Principal Data Scientist at the SAP Global Center of Excellence for BTP, where he is overlooking the data science portfolios for a number of industry sectors. He has served in professor positions in various universities, including NYU Poly and AD, all the way to Full Professor rank, and is the founder and director of the Interactive Robots and Media Lab (IRML). He has been a four-time TEDx speaker, as well as a speaker at Singularity University, is frequently invited for keynotes worldwide, and is also a pro-bono contributor to a number of organizations. His academic interests include human-robot interaction, machine learning, cognitive systems, he has more than 80 peer-reviewed academic publications, and has corporate experience of advanced Data Science projects. Among other appointments, Nikolaos has served as judge for the UAE Prime Minister’s Office humanitarian “Drones for Good” and “Robotics and AI for Good” competitions, as founding chair of the IEEE UAE Robotics and Automation Society, as vice-chair of the Hellenic Artificial Intelligence Society (EETN), as member of the European Union Cognitive Systems group (EUCog) and the MIT Educational Council, and as mentor for the MIT Enterprise Forum.
